Acorn Stairlifts is an international, family owned company, employing over 900 employees worldwide. The core business is the manufacture and sale of Acorn Superglide electric stairlifts.
The Canadian head office for Acorn Stairlifts is located in Ontario, along with our network of authorized dealers and a depot in Vancouver. Acorn also have a major presence in the United States, with Sales and Distribution centers in Florida, New Jersey, California.

The History of Acorn Stairlifts
Acorn Stairlifts was formed in 1992 and the business started by buying, reconditioning and reselling stairlifts, as well as buying in new lifts from other manufacturers. Within a very short space of time, demand outstripped supply and other supply options had to be taken to maintain our commitment to exceptional customer service.
Design an all new stair lift
The obvious choice was to begin design and manufacture of Acorn's own stairlift. The Acorn Superglide Stair Lift was born, soon to become a market leader, and to this day remains at the forefront of stairlift technology.
The new lift was designed to be simple, easy to install and maintain, taking away many of the difficulties we had experienced with other stairlifts.
With the acquisition of the manufacturing facilities for the motor & gearbox Acorn can be confident as they have complete control over the quality on the most important moving part of our stairlifts.
Innovative technology
This stairlift benefits from contemporary design and the very latest innovation in direct current (DC) battery power. Acorn was the first manufacturer of stairlifts that powered their stairlifts with the use of DC battery power. The advantages of smooth power delivery and the ability to operate during a power cut have made the DC battery a standard in todays stairlifts.
Acorn is the now the largest supplier of stairlifts direct to the customer. Acorn currently manufactures in excess of 50,000 new stairlifts every year and has hundreds of thousands of customers globally.
