Stairlift Installation: What to Expect

12:00am | | Tips and Advice

Stairlift installation not only allows for you to gain more access to your entire home but brings back some much-needed freedom. Once a survey is complete on your home, which ensures the right fit for your stairlift, you'll want to get prepared for your installation. Here's what to expect.

Our team members will survey your staircase either virtually or in-person; then, the technicians will start working on finding out which stairlift will work best in your home. Once the surveying is done, you will schedule an installation time and day that works best for you, which could be the next day.

How to Get Ready for Installation

Getting your house prepared is as easy as clearing off the staircase of anything that could be in the way, like clutter, cabinetry, or objects near the actual steps. You do not need to worry about wall décor or attachments to the railing because the stairlift rail attaches to stairs, not the wall. When it comes time for your scheduled installation and the staircase is cleared, one of our excellent engineers can get to work!

You won't need to hire a cleaner or be nervous about a mess after completing the process. Our technicians operate in a mobile workspace from their vans. They are knowledgeable in best practices to make sure they leave your home as clean, neat, and safe as they possibly can.

How Much Time Does It Take?

The installation itself can take anywhere from 1-5 hours, depending on your staircase's size, curve, and uniqueness. Straight stairlifts typically take less time to install than the curved model. While the process is relatively quick, there is no safety sacrificed. While at the manufacturer, they go through exceptional testing, and then once they are installed inside your home, they are tested once again to make sure they are operating up to our strict safety standards.

As the installation nears the end, once the stairlift is operational, the engineer will check all the lift operational aspects. They will instruct you on how to use the stairlift, its operations, and safety. The technician will remain as a resource until you are fully secure in your abilities to use the lift.

After the Install

Before the technician leaves, they will let you know when to get additional maintenance done on your stairlift. We recommend annual maintenance to make sure your lift is running correctly for many years to come. Your technician can tell you what might work best for you. If you ever have a question or concern about your stairlift, we do have a 24/7 help desk ready to answer your call anytime.

Making the life-changing decision to install a stairlift in your home is not an easy decision, but regaining freedom in your home again should be.
